Essential usage guide for Speed Wi-Fi 5G X12 users: Why switching communication mode to "+A Mode" incurs extra fees, limits your quota to 15GB, and how to verify your settings.
Do NOT switch from ST Mode to +A Mode!
Switching your Pocket Wi-Fi X12 to +A Mode (Plus Area Mode) will automatically trigger an additional monthly carrier fee of ¥1,100 and severely cap your high-speed quota at only 15GB. Once exceeded, your device speed drops to 128kbps.
ST Mode (Standard Mode)
- Included in your contract: No extra charge (¥0 fee).
- Full high-speed data: Enjoy your full monthly high-speed quota.
- Network coverage: High-speed 5G / 4G LTE WiMAX network across Japan.
- Status on screen: Displays "ST" in the top status bar.
+A Mode (Plus Area Mode)
- Extra carrier charge: Additional ¥1,100 fee billed automatically.
- Strict 15GB limit: Monthly high-speed data restricted to only 15GB.
- Severe speed penalty: After 15GB, speed drops to 128kbps for the rest of the month.
- Status on screen: Displays "+A" in the top status bar.

How to Verify and Keep ST Mode Active
Check the Top Status Bar on Device
Turn on your Pocket WiFi X12 screen. Look at the upper status bar next to the battery and signal icons:
Navigate to Communication Mode Menu
From the home screen of your X12 device, navigate through the settings:
Select "ST Mode" (Standard Mode)
Tap ST Mode (STモード) to confirm your selection. If a popup asks "通信モードを設定しますか？", tap Yes / 決定 to apply. Verify the top status icon returns to "ST".
